Bryan Higgins

Bryan Higgins photoBryan Higgins is a sculptor, ceramicist, and professor of art, based in Oakland, CA.  He studied ceramics at City College of San Francisco, and holds an M.F.A. from Syracuse University.  Bryan currently is a lecturer in ceramics at California State University and Ohlone College, and teaches at the Clay Underground art center in San Francisco.

Bryan has established himself as a nationally exhibiting artist, from his studio at the Dome Studios in Oakland.  His ceramic work explores architectural form as metaphor, containers of spirit and matter.

Referencing the vessels and architecture of many cultures, Bryan’s work investigates themes of transcendence and the honesty and beauty of traditional materials, forms, and techniques.  Through his teaching and his art, Bryan seeks to delve into the depth and beauty of human interests and interactions.
