Amanda/Stephen

Amanda Jagerman

I am grateful and joyful to be a Californian by birth, a 4th generation Japanese-American (Yonsei) by my Mother, and a 2nd generation Polish-Jewish-American by my Father.

Corresponding to my eclectic ancestry and my life in the rural desert and by the urban sea, my work is an amalgamation and a tribute to various and wondrous artistic disciplines, cultural traditions, aesthetic styles, natural elements, and historical eras, some of which have yet to occur.

Though I work in a variety of media, ceramics is my favorite mode of expression because of its instinctual, primal, and therapeutic qualities.

Aside from making, I also love teaching others about the magic and mystery of clay.

Stephen Ruby

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Steve discovered ceramics in 2001 while in college.

He recently has returned from working as a full-time ceramic artist in Brooklyn, NY where he helped to run the studio, taught classes, and exhibited.

Although initially he was creating mostly functional wheel-thrown pottery, recently it has taken a sculptural turn; focusing on surface decoration and texture as well as altering thrown forms.
